The hills and valleys of a playing career follow that of a life, with some crescendos more high, some undulations more varied than others. 

Michael Bradley retired from his playing career Saturday evening in Toronto, with crescendos toward the top of US Soccer history. 

Over the professional sporting lifetime of some 20 years, he accomplished much and paved even more for a collective that (stumbling as it may sometimes seem) builds on the frameworks left behind by the past.
