Somewhere across the country, several places across the country, I’m vaguely aware it's Super Tuesday. The election will eventually come to swallow this swing district in a swing state eventually, but not quite yet. For now, just south of Philadelphia, in a stadium by the river George Washington crossed (as noted by the now-legendary announcer from last week’s Concacaf Champions Cup) the Philadelphia Union are playing Pachuca, and waiting patiently for spring.
In recent days across the city, occupying the hearts of an emotive town, various Philadelphians have been questioning why they’re nixing dollar dog night at the Phillies, shedding heartfelt tears for Jason Kelce (who said so long to a storied career this week) and wondering if the Union will be good this time around.
With much left to see in this season, and caveats asunder, there are reasons to hope.
Indeed, a scoreless draw may seem like nothing. But there’s inspiration to take from a 0-0 draw with Mexico’s third-ranked Liga MX side, Pachuca, tonight.
